Social Networking for Ministries
I have so much to say about Social Networking for Ministries, that I developed a brand new, unique seminar called, can you guess, “Social Networking for Ministries” (http://www.ComputerMinistry.com/social). I discuss how the modern social technologies are directly affecting and impacting today’s moderm ministries. Churches all over are interested, but more are confused about the ways to use these great technologies. Facebook.com is now the number one social networking website in the world… the company has current value of over 5 Billion dollars (that could obviously change very quickly). Twitter.com is getting a large following and despite its simplicity its use is starting to move into the minister’s hands and is being added as yet another tool for ministry.
Most church staff that I have visited with (online or in person) are still a little confused on what exactly social networking is all about. Ironic for sure. Churches are really very much a social networking experience… in so many ways. To me it just makes sense to translate the social technologies over to use in a church… it is just natural.
I will be discussing the various social networking websites and I will probably (okay, I will) revisit them over time as so many things change so fast. I do this all day, every day just about and sometimes I realize that I have a lot to learn about this subject. I would love your comments (good, bad and ugly).
